Australian Olympic gold medallist John Konrads has passed away
John Konrads
21 May 1942 – 25 April 2021
Just a few months after winning gold at the 1960 Summer Olympics in the 1500 metre freestyle, Australian swimmer John Konrads was at Boys’ Town commemorating the opening of the pool. As an invited guest, he was the first to swim in the pool, doing a lap of honour before cutting the ribbon and opening it for all the boys to enjoy.
Dunlea Centre wish the Konrads family comfort in the knowledge that he’s left the world a better place. His generosity and care are remembered.
With Sympathy,
Dunlea Centre, Australia’s Original Boys’ Town
